Tracy Frasure Obituary, Death; – Authorities have disclosed the identity of a woman who was struck and killed by a CTA bus in the South Shore area.
The bus was located in the 7000-block of South South Shore Drive shortly before 8 a.m. on Wednesday when it began to move after being stationary, according to Chicago police.
It appears that the woman lost her footing, resulting in the bus colliding with her, police reported.
She has been identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as Tracy Frasure.
Multiple witnesses indicated that the bus not only struck and killed a woman attempting to board at a stop but also continued to drive away following the incident.
“I heard a noise that resembled branches hitting the glass,” witness Wayne Foster stated.
Foster mentioned that he was on the No. 26 bus when he observed a woman knocking on the door at a stop near 70th Street and South Shore Drive.
“The other passengers and I informed the driver that there was a woman on the ground. He responded by saying, ‘Oh, (expletive).’ and drove off,” Foster recounted.
Foster exited the bus and attempted to assist.
“I realize that this is someone’s daughter, someone’s child; someone’s entire world is going to be shattered today,” Foster expressed.
A spokesperson for the CTA remarked, “Based on initial information, CTA received reports of an interaction between a #26 bus and a female pedestrian at 69th and South Shore.”
Foster indicated that he was en route to work at the time. However, the traumatic nature of the incident compelled him to return home. He now finds himself praying for the family involved.
“Take the time to mourn, but also reach out to the city and the CTA, urging them to be transparent and not to conceal information behind legal barriers,” Foster advised.
The CTA did not provide a direct response to the inquiry regarding the driver continuing to drive away.
