Douglas E Smith Obituary, Death; – Authorities in Prince George County report that a man has lost his life in a collision that occurred on Friday morning.
At approximately 6:40 a.m. on December 5, law enforcement officials arrived at the 4500 block of Courtland Road to investigate a crash involving a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2006 Toyota Camry.
Initial findings suggest that the Silverado was traveling westbound on Courtland Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle. Subsequently, the Silverado crossed the centerline, colliding with the eastbound 2006 Toyota Camry. The driver of the Silverado did not sustain any injuries.
The driver of the Toyota Camry, identified as 59-year-old Douglas E. Smith from Mechanicsville, was declared deceased at the scene.
Currently, weather and road conditions are being regarded as contributing factors to the accident.
Authorities have stated that there were no indications of reckless driving or impairment by either driver at the time of the incident.
