Steve Gonzalez Obituary, Death; – The Austin Police Department has identified both the victim and the suspect involved in the homicide that occurred in southeast Austin on Sunday. The incident took place on September 8 at approximately 5:55 p.m. in the 2500 block of Teri Road.

According to police reports, 26-year-old Martin Tovar fatally shot 25-year-old Steve Gonzalez following a dispute that arose while they were engaged in a dice game. Gonzalez was declared deceased at the scene at 6:34 p.m. Following the shooting, Tovar reportedly fled the location.

Homicide detectives conducted interviews with witnesses and subsequently identified Tovar as a person of interest. He has since been arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Authorities encourage anyone with further information to reach out to the Austin Police Department at 512-974-8477.
