Randell Case,Terry Bertamini Obituary, Death; –Four individuals lost their lives in three distinct accidents on Interstate 15 throughout East Idaho within a period of less than 72 hours last week.
The series of deadly incidents commenced on the morning of October 21 near Fort Hall, progressed on Thursday evening north of Spencer, and concluded early Friday morning in Pocatello.
Authorities have disclosed the identities of three of the four deceased individuals.
The latest fatal incident transpired at 2 a.m. on Friday on Interstate 15 in northern Pocatello.
Randell Case, 47, from Pocatello, was heading northbound on the freeway in a 1997 Mitsubishi 3000 GT when he swerved to the right, collided with the guardrail, went over it, and struck the pillar of the Monte Vista overpass, according to authorities.
Case was wearing a seat belt and was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Bannock County Coroner’s Office, in collaboration with Idaho State Police, confirmed Case’s identity on Monday. His next of kin has been informed.
“I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences to Randell’s family and friends during this challenging time,” stated Bannock County Coroner Torey Danner.
Two of the three northbound lanes of Interstate 15 in northern Pocatello were obstructed for three hours due to the accident.
Another fatal incident occurred around 5:10 p.m. on Thursday on Interstate 15 north of Spencer.
A 1996 Dodge van, operated by a 77-year-old woman with a 76-year-old male passenger, was traveling southbound on Interstate 15 when the vehicle veered into the median, overturned, and came to a stop in the left lane of the northbound freeway, as reported by state police. The man and woman are residents of Lethbridge, Canada, according to state police.
Clark County Coroner Brenda Laird identified the passenger as Terry Bertamini on Monday.
The driver was wearing a seat belt and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Bertamini was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene, as stated by state police.
