Michael Smith Obituary, Death; – A 68-year-old man, identified by Delaware State Police as Michael Smith, was killed after his car was struck and pushed into an intersection, resulting in a collision with a tanker truck.

Smith, who resided in Portsmouth, Virginia, was pronounced dead shortly after the crash that occurred on October 17 near Lincoln. At approximately 2 p.m., Smith was driving a Hyundai northbound on Route 113 when he began to slow down in order to stop for the traffic light at Johnson Road.

The vehicle behind him, a Honda Accord operated by a 27-year-old man from Milford, failed to halt in time, colliding with Smith’s car and propelling it into the intersection, where a Freightliner tanker truck was traveling westbound on Johnson Road.

Smith’s Hyundai impacted the left side of the Freightliner. He was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead. The drivers of both the Honda and the Freightliner, the latter being a 58-year-old man from Dover, did not sustain any injuries.
