Ian Hinkey,Kess Hinkey Obituary, Death; – Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that killed two people north of Winnemucca. It happened around 11 p.m. on October 6.
The driver of a red Ford F-250 pickup reportedly crossed over into the opposite lane of traffic, directly into the path of a tractor-trailer commercial vehicle. The driver of the commercial vehicle tried to steer left to avoid the pickup, according to investigators. However, the driver of the Ford F-250 steered right, colliding with the front of the tractor-trailer.
Both the driver of the pickup and the passenger died from their injuries. The driver was identified as 31 year-old Ian Hinkey of Winnemucca, and the passenger was identified as 19 year-old Kess Hinkey of McDermitt.
Hinkey is suspected of being impaired at the time of the crash.
