Mekayla Rembert Obituary, Death;- A woman who lost her life in a fire earlier this week in Birmingham has now been identified.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the victim’s identity as Mekayla Rembert. She was 32 years old and resided in Birmingham.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service responded to the incident at 8:57 p.m. on Monday, arriving at the fire located in the 1200 block of 16th Street S.W.

Fire Captain Orlando Reynolds reported that firefighters promptly located the victim, who was found inside a detached garage.

Rembert was declared dead at the scene at 9:01 p.m. There were no additional injuries reported.

Birmingham police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Rembert’s death, while the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service is looking into the cause of the fire.
