Jennifer Kim Obituary, Death; – Fairfax County police apprehended a man following an unintentional firearm discharge that resulted in the death of a woman inside a Legato residence last week.

Authorities reported that officers were summoned to the 4500 block of Derring Lane at approximately 3:35 p.m. regarding a weapons complaint on September 26. A caller indicated that a man had inadvertently discharged a firearm, hitting an individual within the home.
When the officers arrived, they discovered 30-year-old Jennifer Kim from Fairfax suffering from gunshot wounds. Kim was subsequently declared deceased at a nearby hospital.

According to police, 31-year-old Richard Huynh of Fairfax was in the process of securing his firearm in a gun box located on the third floor of the residence when the weapon discharged. The bullet penetrated the floor and struck Kim on the second level, police stated.

Authorities noted that Huynh descended the stairs and attempted to administer first aid prior to the arrival of the officers. He was arrested and charged with the unlawful discharge of a firearm within a building. Huynh is currently being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.
