Courtney R Petersen Obituary, Death; – Authorities have disclosed the identity of the bicyclist who tragically passed away after being struck by a dump truck on Thursday morning.
At approximately 10 a.m., the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report concerning a collision involving a recumbent bicycle and a dump truck from Des Moines Asphalt and Paving, located in the 12100 block of Northwest 44th Street.
The sheriff’s office indicated that the bicyclist was riding on the High Trestle Trail bike path and was in the process of crossing Northwest 44th Street when she was impacted by the dump truck.
The bicyclist succumbed to her injuries at the scene. On Friday, the sheriff’s office confirmed the victim’s identity as 44-year-old Courtney R. Petersen from Ankeny.
No further details have been provided. The sheriff’s office stated that the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
