Cleto Banda Arrested; – A man has been charged with murder following an incident in which he allegedly fatally stabbed another individual in the neck in Old East Dallas on Monday, according to officials.
Authorities received a call regarding a stabbing in the 4800 block of Gaston Avenue, near the intersection with Fitzhugh Avenue, at approximately 9 a.m. on December 8. Upon arrival, they discovered a man lying on the sidewalk with a stab wound to his neck, as detailed in an arrest warrant affidavit.
A witness informed the officers that the victim pointed towards the suspect, later identified as Cleto Banda, 33, exclaiming, “He stabbed me! He stabbed me!” while fleeing the scene, as stated in the affidavit.
Officers located Banda a few blocks away from the incident, where he was found in possession of a bloody knife, according to the affidavit.
Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead, officials reported. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed.
During a police interview, Banda confessed to stabbing the victim, as indicated in the affidavit. He mentioned that he stood over the victim, deliberating on his actions before ultimately stabbing him, but failed to provide a coherent rationale for his behavior, according to the affidavit.
Banda has been booked into the Dallas County Jail on a murder charge, as per jail records.
