Timothy Verbeck Obituary, Death;  – A native of Winfield, who had been residing in El Dorado, tragically lost his life on Saturday afternoon in a collision involving two vehicles on K-254 near Greenwich Road in Sedgwick County, as reported by the Kansas Highway Patrol.

According to troopers, 64-year-old Timothy Verbeck was traveling eastbound on K-254 on a 2023 Harley-Davidson Tri Glide at approximately 3:23 p.m. when a northbound 1997 Ford Expedition failed to yield at the intersection, resulting in the motorcycle colliding with the SUV.

Verbeck was declared dead at the scene, and the patrol confirmed that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The SUV’s driver, 78-year-old Lois Amos from Wichita, was transported to Wesley Medical Center with minor injuries.

Verbeck, who was raised in Winfield, was the son of the late Charles and Carolyn Verbeck, who were long-time proprietors of the Winfield skating rink. He was a well-known figure there for many years, assisting his family in managing the business.

Although Verbeck had been living in El Dorado, he frequently returned to Cowley County to visit his family and friends.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
