Tiffany Kunc Obituary, Death; – Elyria police announced on Monday the identity of a woman who was fatally struck by a driver, who, according to officers, believed he had collided with a deer.
The deceased has been identified as Tiffany Kunc, aged 34, from Elyria.
Authorities have not disclosed the name of the driver as charges are pending based on the results of their investigation.
Elyria police reported that officers responded to a residence in the 6700 block of West River Road South at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Kunc lying unresponsive in the snow on a tree lawn.
According to police, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene, which were consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
Police stated that surveillance footage from a nearby residence confirmed that the woman was indeed hit by a car, with the video indicating a maroon Ford Escape.
Officers later traced the vehicle to a residence in Lorain.
When investigators from Elyria police seized the car and questioned the man, he reportedly confessed to driving in the vicinity of the accident.
As per police reports, the driver claimed he thought he had hit a deer.
Authorities indicated that there is no suspicion of alcohol or drugs being contributing factors in the incident.
Officers further noted that criminal charges are expected to follow the conclusion of their ongoing investigation.
