Thomas Heath Obituary, Death; – The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identity of the individual who lost his life in a head-on collision that occurred east of Lincoln on Monday. Emergency responders from the deputies and Eagle Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene of a two-vehicle accident near the intersection of 162nd and O streets at approximately 12:28 p.m.

Initial investigations revealed that a Ford Focus, operated by 61-year-old Thomas Heath, was heading east on O Street when it veered into the westbound lane, resulting in a collision with a Chevrolet Equinox driven by a 32-year-old man from Lincoln. The Ford remained on the roadway, sustaining significant front-end damage, while the Chevrolet ended up in a nearby ditch. According to the Lancaster Sheriff’s Office, Heath was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he subsequently passed away. His next of kin has been informed.

The Lincoln driver received treatment for minor injuries at the scene. Both drivers were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time of the incident, as stated by the LSO. O Street was closed between 148th and 162nd streets for nearly three hours while authorities conducted their investigation, but it was reopened later that same day. The Nebraska State Patrol and the Nebraska Department of Transportation provided assistance during the investigation of the crash.
