Rebecca Cerda,Daniela Cerda Obituary, Death; – An inquiry is currently being conducted following the tragic death of a Houston family in a head-on collision in Leon County on Saturday, as reported by officials. The Texas Department of Public Safety indicated that the devastating incident occurred around 3 p.m. on I-45 near FM 977.
According to investigators, a 2016 Dodge pickup traveling southbound veered off the road to the right, struck a guard rail, crossed the roadway into the central median, and vaulted over the cable barrier. The DPS reported that the driver, 43-year-old Toriano Fair, subsequently collided head-on with a 2023 Ford F-150 carrying a family of five traveling northbound, resulting in both vehicles igniting.
Tragically, the entire Houston family perished at the scene, while Fair was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, as stated by authorities. The deceased victims have been identified as Hermenegildo Melendez, 55; Veronica Cerda, 53; Veronica Denise Cerda, 26; Rebecca Cerda, 20; and Daniela Cerda, 18.
