Tahirou Diallo Obituary, Death; – A 60-year-old rideshare driver was shot and killed by a “highly intoxicated” passenger in North Texas Wednesday, officials said.

North Richland Hills police said its officers were called to the 8000 block of Mickey Street shortly after midnight for reports of gunfire in the neighborhood and found two men near an SUV parked in the roadway.

One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound and the second, a 30-year-old North Richland Hills resident, was arrested, police said.

Police said officers found a firearm next to the suspect, who was “highly intoxicated.” Officials determined the man who was killed – later identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as 60-year-old Hurst native Tahirou Diallo – was a rideshare driver, and the suspect was a passenger, according to a press release.

“While motive is still being investigated, preliminary evidence indicates the two men did not know each other prior to the encounter and this was an isolated incident. No additional suspects are being sought at this time,” the press release read.

Official charges and bond information for the suspect won’t be released until the suspect appears before a judge, police said. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the North Richland Hills Police Department at (817)281-1000.
