Steven Le,Leslie Lynn Death; – A man lost his life on Wednesday night on Interstate 95 after his vehicle crossed the median and collided with another car, as reported by New Hampshire State Police. This incident marks the second fatality and the third serious accident this month involving vehicles crossing the median on I-95 in the Seacoast area.
According to preliminary investigations, a southbound vehicle crossed the median, became airborne, and struck a northbound vehicle, as detailed in a police social media post. The identity of the deceased driver who crossed the median has not yet been disclosed. The driver of the northbound vehicle that was struck suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. Neither vehicle had any passengers.
State Police indicated that the crash occurred before 7 p.m. near mile marker 13 in Portsmouth, resulting in the closure of the northbound lanes while authorities conducted their investigation. As a result of the investigation, northbound traffic was redirected off Exit 3, as reported by police.
In light of the recent fatal collision in Greenland, the New Hampshire Department of Transportation is contemplating the installation of median barriers along Interstate 95, according to a spokesperson for the agency. However, plans and cost estimates for such installations have not yet been finalized.
Earlier this month, on October 16, two individuals were killed and a third was hospitalized following a crash on the highway in Greenland. The northbound driver, identified as 24-year-old Steven Le from Methuen, Massachusetts, lost control of his vehicle, crossed the median into oncoming traffic, and collided with another car, resulting in his death. The crash also claimed the life of southbound driver Leslie Lynn, 58, from Roanoke, Virginia.
On October 23, another serious incident occurred on I-95 in Greenland when a northbound vehicle crossed the median and struck a southbound car, resulting in two serious injuries. Last winter, a California woman was identified as a victim of a February crash on I-95 near the Portsmouth-Greenland line, where the northbound vehicle she was in lost control, rolled over, and ended up in the breakdown lane of the southbound lanes.
