Samuel Tyler Gross Obituary, Death; – A Petoskey man, aged 18, tragically lost his life on Monday evening in a collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Intertown and Eppler roads, as reported by the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a news release dated Oct. 13, deputies were dispatched to the location at approximately 7:03 p.m. on Oct. 13, where a motorcycle and a Toyota 4Runner were involved in the accident. The motorcyclist, identified as Samuel Tyler Gross, succumbed to his injuries.

The 4Runner was driven by 69-year-old Candace Jo Wynn, also from Petoskey, who was transported to McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital but fortunately did not suffer any injuries.

Sheriff Matt Leirstein indicated that speed seems to be the primary factor contributing to the accident.

“The Sheriff’s Office expresses our heartfelt condolences to all those impacted by this tragic event,” Leirstein stated.

The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office received assistance at the scene from Emmet County EMS, the Resort Bear Creek Fire Department, and the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Police. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
