Amelia Neal Obituary, Death; – The Jackson police have reported that the woman who sustained a gunshot wound to the head while in a vehicle has passed away.
Interim Jackson Police Chief and Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones stated that an individual discharged firearms into a gray Honda SUV on Cynthia Road, close to Highway 49, at approximately 4:30 p.m. on October 12, 2025. The vehicle was occupied by a male driver, a female front passenger, and a six-year-old child seated in the back.
Jones indicated that the female passenger was shot in the head, prompting the driver to head to the nearby Sprint Mart where law enforcement was notified. The suspects are thought to be in a black passenger vehicle bearing a Louisiana license plate. The reason behind the shooting remains unclear.
The victim, identified as 33-year-old Amelia Neal, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Authorities reported that Neal succumbed to her injuries on October 13, 2025.
