Ryan Peery Obituary, Death; – At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23, deputies from Merrick County were dispatched to Highway 14 near U Road in rural Merrick County in response to a two-vehicle injury accident.
Initial investigations indicated that a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling northbound on Highway 14 when it crossed the centerline into the southbound lane, resulting in a collision with a southbound 2013 Dodge Ram pickup.
The driver and sole occupant of the 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe, identified as Ryan Peery, aged 46 from Cass County, was pronounced dead at the scene. It was noted that Peery was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident, and it remains unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
The driver of the 2013 Dodge Ram, who was also the sole occupant, was transported to Merrick Medical Center and subsequently transferred to a medical facility in Omaha, Nebraska, due to serious injuries. This individual was wearing a seatbelt during the accident.
Airbags deployed in both vehicles, and the investigation is currently ongoing. Assistance at the scene was rendered by the Nebraska State Patrol, Nance County Sheriff’s Office, Clarks Fire and Rescue, Central City Ambulance, and the Central City Fire Department.
