Rosa Andrade Obituary, Death; – Unicoi County Search and Rescue has announced the recovery of the body of the final missing employee from Impact Plastics.
Authorities confirmed that 29-year-old Rosa Andrade was discovered deceased over a month following the flooding caused by Hurricane Helene. Andrade was one of six employees from Impact Plastics who lost their lives in the disaster. She is survived by her husband and two children. Last month, the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration initiated an investigation into Impact Plastics.
Additionally, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is examining the company’s response to the unprecedented flooding that resulted in at least one employee’s death.
Gerald O’Connor, the CEO of Impact Plastics, issued a statement following the announcement of the investigations by both the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation regarding the fatalities. The family of a supervisor who perished at Impact Plastics has claimed that the factory owner was not among the last individuals to evacuate the premises, which contradicts the owner’s previous statements.
Johnny Peterson, aged 55, assisted in evacuating at least ten individuals from the factory and onto the bed of a semi-truck before the truck was overturned by the floodwaters from Helene on Friday, September 27. The last video Peterson sent to his daughter, Alexa, was recorded from the semi-truck’s bed at 12:57 p.m. Officials have indicated that investigations into workplace fatalities may take up to six months to conclude.
