Richard Rogissart Obituary, Death; – The Spokane Independent Investigative Response (SIIR) Team has concluded its inquiry into a police shooting incident in which four deputies from the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office fatally shot a suspect who reportedly brandished an axe at them.

As reported by the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), deputies were dispatched at approximately 4:20 p.m. on January 30 to the 6600 block of North Calispel Street following alerts about a man allegedly attempting to assault a neighbor with a baton and making threats to kill.

After several hours of negotiation, deputies entered the suspect’s residence, where he purportedly launched an attack against them. The SCSO confirmed that gunfire was exchanged, resulting in the suspect being pronounced dead at the scene.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the deceased as 55-year-old Richard Rogissart, who succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. His death has been ruled a homicide.

The Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office will now review the case to assess whether the actions of the deputies were legally justified.
