Jaciey Hogan Obituary, Death; – Family and friends have characterized a teenager who tragically lost her life in a crash on Wednesday morning, which also left two others with serious injuries and disrupted a major traffic route in Lee County, as a resilient young woman. The GoFundMe campaign has identified the deceased 17-year-old as Jaciey Hogan.

“Jaciey was beautiful, compassionate, loving, and a source of light for everyone she encountered,” stated Stacia Conyne, the organizer of the GoFundMe. She noted that Jaciey’s mother, Trisha Johnson, worked on Fort Myers Beach and raised Jaciey as a single parent.

As of Friday morning, the GoFundMe had successfully raised over $23,000 towards its target of $35,000. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a vehicle driven by an 18-year-old man from Fort Myers, with Hogan as a passenger, collided with another car after running a red light.

The slain teenager was en route to school at the time of the incident. “It is with great sorrow that we inform you of the passing of one of our students this morning while on her way to school,” wrote South Fort Myers High School Principal Angel Gomez in an email to parents. “We understand that some of you may have already learned of this heartbreaking event, and our thoughts are with all those affected.” In the email, Gomez mentioned that the School District is providing counseling services for students and staff in need of emotional support.

The driver of the SUV, identified only by his first name, Dylan, has a separate GoFundMe campaign. A photo on the page depicts a bearded man in a hospital gown, connected to IVs and wearing a hospital wristband. The fundraiser indicates that the 30-year-old Fort Myers resident was on his way to work at the time of the accident.

Dylan reportedly sustained seven fractured ribs, a fractured hip, a fractured lumbar spine, and a bleeding spleen. By Friday morning, the fundraising effort had accumulated $760 towards its $35,000 goal.

As for the teenage driver, the identity of the 18-year-old man who was operating the vehicle with Johnson remains undisclosed at the time of publication. The Florida Highway Patrol has not confirmed whether he will face any criminal charges or what those charges might entail.
