Nigel Badal Obituary, Death; – The local police have disclosed the identity of the 23-year-old individual who lost his life in a crash early Tuesday morning, which they reported involved a pursuit by officers.
Nigel Badal was identified as the driver and sole occupant of the 1996 Geo Prizm that collided with a steel traffic pole while attempting to turn onto Kings Highway from Long Hill Road, according to police reports. First responders provided assistance to Badal, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries at L&M Hospital, as stated by the police.
According to police, the pursuit initiated on Route 12 when an officer observed the sedan running a red light at an intersection on Route 12 at approximately 2:35 a.m. The officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, but it continued to accelerate at a high speed.
A loaded handgun was recovered from within the vehicle, as reported by the police.
The area was cordoned off until 9 a.m. on Tuesday while the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad of the Connecticut State Police carried out their investigation.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, according to police.
