Nicklas Thompson Obituary, Death; – A man has succumbed to his injuries after being hit by a vehicle early Sunday in Cherokee County, located in southeast Kansas, as reported by officials.
The incident occurred at 12:22 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of S. 260th Street and 510th Avenue, approximately four miles southeast of Pittsburg.
As per the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2020 Hyundai Elantra was traveling north on S. 260th Street when it collided with a pedestrian who was walking in the street. The pedestrian, identified as Nicklas Thompson, 37, from Pittsburg, was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the Hyundai, identified as Melinda Canet, 54, also from Pittsburg, was taken to a local hospital with suspected minor injuries. The patrol noted that Canet, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was wearing her seat belt.
