Nicholas M Griffin Obituary, Death;- The Champaign County Coroner has confirmed the identity of the individual who was fatally shot in Champaign on January 9. Nicholas M. Griffin, aged 18, was declared deceased at 4:28 p.m. on that date.
At 3:59 p.m., the Champaign Police received a call regarding a shooting with injuries in the 1900 block of Cynthia Drive. Upon arrival, officers promptly found Griffin suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Medical assistance was rendered by the officers on-site until Griffin could be transported to a nearby hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Griffin and his associates were seated in a vehicle within a parking lot when an unidentified individual discharged a firearm at them. Following the incident, Griffin’s companions fled the scene, and the assailant has yet to be identified. Currently, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is still active.
