Mischa Mabeline Kaalohilani Johnson Obituary, Death; – A soldier of the U.S. Army has reached a plea agreement following accusations of murdering his wife, who was six months pregnant at the time she went missing.

Army Criminal Investigation Division Mischa Mabeline Kaalohilani Johnson,

Private First Class Dewayne Arthur Johnson II faced five charges and 19 specifications related to the disappearance of his wife, Mischa Mabeline Kaalohilani Johnson, 19, as stated by the U.S. Army. As previously reported, these charges were filed six months after she was last seen at their residence on Schofield Barracks, O’ahu, Hawaii, on July 31.

On Thursday, May 29, Michelle McCaskill, a representative for the Army Office of Special Trial Counsel, confirmed that Dewayne, 29, has agreed to enter a guilty plea at a hearing set to occur at Wheeler Army Airfield Courtroom next week, according to military news outlet Stars and Stripes, along with local sources The Honolulu Star-Advertiser and Hawaii News Now.

“PFC Johnson has consented to plead guilty; however, additional details cannot be disclosed at this moment as the guilty plea is contingent upon acceptance by the military judge,” McCaskill stated in a release shared with Stars and Stripes. “Should PFC Johnson’s guilty plea be accepted, the judge will impose a sentence in accordance with the plea agreement during the sentencing hearing.”

When Mischa went missing last year, the Army Criminal Investigation Division announced a reward of $10,000 for any information that could assist in locating her. A search operation was initiated around Schofield Barracks after her husband reported her missing on August 1, as reported by Stars and Stripes.

Dewayne allegedly informed the officers involved in the search that his wife was “emotionally distraught,” according to the outlet. He was subsequently arrested and placed in military pretrial confinement.

In February, the U.S. Army provided an update indicating that Mischa was “presumed deceased and her body has not been located.” Officials also noted that Dewayne waived his right to an Article 32 preliminary hearing. The “general nature” of the charges against him includes “the murder of Mischa Johnson, intentionally causing her death.”

Details on whether Mischa’s remains were located before Dewayne’s plea deal this week have not been shared at this time.

“If we can’t have Mischa, the least that we can do is make sure that man stays in jail and spends however needed to… he needs to stay in jail,” her sister, Marianna Tapiz, previously said, per Hawaii News Now.

The U.S. Army did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Friday, May 30.
