Matthew Chaney Obituary, Death; – The individual who lost his life in a tragic shooting incident on Nursery Street in Springfield last Saturday has been named. Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh reported that at approximately 12:35 a.m., law enforcement was dispatched to the 100 block of Nursery Street following a ShotSpotter alert. Upon their arrival, officers discovered an adult male who succumbed to his injuries.
On Tuesday, the Hampden District Attorney’s Office disclosed the identity of the victim as 19-year-old Matthew Chaney, a resident of Springfield. No information regarding potential suspects has been made available at this time.
