Martin Diaz Obituary, Death; – A 30-year-old man was fatally shot in an alley in south Fort Worth early Saturday, and authorities claim he was killed by an individual hired for the act. The body of Martin Diaz was discovered around 3:30 a.m. on March 22 in the 2600 block of Covert Avenue, situated in a gravel and grass alley between residential properties.
Diaz suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Late Sunday, 29-year-old Luis Gomez De La Cruz was taken into custody on charges of capital murder for hire. The specific role that Gomez De La Cruz allegedly played in the murder remains unclear. The law under which he was arrested pertains to both the shooter and the person who contracted the killing. The affidavit for the arrest warrant, which includes details from a Homicide Unit detective regarding the incident, has not yet been released to the public.
