Kyree Staton Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified a 19-year-old individual who lost his life in a shooting incident that also injured a 17-year-old on Monday evening.
Kyree Staton, a resident of Norfolk, succumbed to injuries sustained during the shooting in the initial block of Sacramento Drive. Upon the arrival of officers at the scene after 7:30 p.m., located off North Armistead Avenue near Luther W. Machen Elementary School, they discovered two individuals suffering from life-threatening injuries: Staton and a 17-year-old male.
Staton was declared dead at the scene, while the 17-year-old was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition, as stated in a release.
An investigation has indicated that Staton and the teenager were acquainted and had made arrangements to meet prior to the shooting, according to police. The details surrounding their meeting imply “possible narcotics-related overtones,” as per police statements. During this meeting, a confrontation occurred, which escalated into a gunfire exchange, according to the release.
