Kent Trochelman Obituary, Death; – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of a man who passed away following a collision on Interstate 5 as 75-year-old Kent Trochelman from Owosso, Michigan.
The California Highway Patrol reported that on June 2, 2025, at approximately 6:20 p.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle accident on southbound I-5, located south of Highway 46. According to the CHP, an initial investigation revealed that Trochelman was operating a 2018 Jeep Compass southbound on Interstate 5, south of Highway 46, at a significantly high speed.
As per the CHP, for reasons that remain unclear, the driver swerved to the right, leaving the roadway and moving onto the dirt shoulder. The Jeep continued in a southwesterly path, striking multiple shrubs, trees, and fencing, ultimately coming to a stop in a dry canal, situated west of the freeway.
The CHP indicated that Trochelman was not utilizing a seatbelt and was declared deceased at the scene. Furthermore, the CHP noted that alcohol seems to be a contributing factor in this incident.
