Katherine Smith Obituary, Death; – Authorities from the Mobile Police Department have reported an arrest made in connection with a traffic accident that occurred on Sunday morning, resulting in the death of a woman at the scene.
The arrested individual has been identified as Spencer Strickland. According to the Metro Jail log, Strickland faces charges of manslaughter. The following details have been provided by Mobile Police: On Sunday, September 8, 2024, at approximately 12:37 a.m., officers were dispatched to a traffic incident at the intersection of Airport Boulevard and McGregor Avenue.
Upon their arrival, officers found a female driver who was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Katherine Smith. Further investigation revealed that Smith was attempting to cross Airport Boulevard at McGregor Avenue when a pickup truck driver disregarded a red traffic signal, resulting in a collision with Smith’s SUV. Spencer Strickland, aged 37, was subsequently arrested and taken to Metro Jail.
