Kada Scott Obituary, Death; – The body found near the abandoned Ada H. Lewis Middle School in Philadelphia’s East Germantown area has been identified as 23-year-old Kada Scott, according to police sources and local news reports.

Scott, a resident of East Mount Airy, had been missing for approximately two weeks. Her family reported her disappearance on October 5, after she was last seen leaving her employment at an assisted living facility in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia the night before.

Authorities discovered Scott’s remains in a shallow grave located in a wooded area behind the school on Saturday, following an anonymous tip, as reported by ABC News. DNA testing confirmed the identity of the remains. Philadelphia police, with the assistance of New Jersey State Police dogs, had been searching for Scott for several days, even closing the academy to allow 300 recruits to participate in the search.

Authorities have linked 21-year-old Keon King to Scott’s disappearance; he surrendered to police on October 14. King is currently being held on a cash bail of $250,000 and faces multiple charges, including kidnapping, false imprisonment, stalking, criminal use of a communication facility, recklessly endangering another person, and tampering with evidence, according to NBC News. Additionally, he has been charged with arson, as reported by CBS News, for allegedly setting fire to the Hyundai Accent that police claim was stolen a day prior to Scott’s disappearance and used to transport her body to the middle school property.

Investigators have stated that they possess video footage of King from a nearby recreation center, as well as cell phone data that places him at that location. He has not yet entered a plea regarding the charges.

Police indicated that Scott left her workplace on the evening of October 4, where she met with King. Sources familiar with the case have indicated that evidence suggests she was killed approximately 20 minutes later. Investigators have not disclosed the cause of Scott’s death and have not provided details regarding the nature of the relationship between the two individuals.

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner remarked at a news conference on Monday that King has a history of similar offenses, with prior charges in two other violent incidents having been withdrawn. The district attorney’s office is continuing to investigate the case.
