Justice Booth Obituary, Death; – The Stockton Police Department is currently investigating a shooting incident that resulted in the death of a man on Wednesday afternoon in the vicinity of Oak Park.

Officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of North Sutter Street around 1 p.m. following reports of gunfire in the parking lot. Upon arrival, the first responders discovered a 20-year-old male victim who had sustained gunshot wounds. He was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

On Thursday, the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the deceased as Justice Booth, a resident of Stockton. Homicide detectives and crime scene analysts were summoned to the location to gather evidence and document the scene.

By approximately 5 p.m. on Wednesday, law enforcement’s attention shifted to a black Dodge Challenger parked between the Oak Park Tennis Center and Billy Hebert Field. The connection of this vehicle to the shooting remains unclear.

Oak Park has a history of violent incidents, with residents having witnessed multiple fatal shootings in recent years. In 2022, two men, aged 26 and 28, were discovered shot inside a vehicle at the park; the younger individual was pronounced dead at the scene, while the older man was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening.

In 2016, a mass shooting at Oak Park resulted in the death of a 30-year-old man and injuries to three others. At that time, police indicated that the incident was believed to be gang-related. Authorities have not disclosed any information regarding a potential motive for Wednesday’s shooting or descriptions of any suspects involved.
