Joshua E Andell Obituary, Death; – The Washoe County coroner has confirmed the identity of the pedestrian who was fatally struck by a vehicle on Prater Way in Sparks on Sunday evening. According to the medical examiner, 39-year-old Joshua E. Andell was pronounced dead at the scene due to blunt force trauma.
The coroner’s office indicates that Andell is believed to have been homeless. Authorities are currently investigating the incident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred on Prater Way in Sparks. Officers arrived at the intersection of 18th Street and Prater Way around 8:00 p.m. following reports of the collision.
Upon their arrival, they discovered a man lying in the street. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The man’s identity has not yet been disclosed, as officials are in the process of notifying his next of kin. It is believed that he was homeless.
It has been noted that the pedestrian was not utilizing a crosswalk at the time of the incident. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Preliminary findings indicate that neither speed nor alcohol impairment contributed to the crash.
Prater Way has since reopened between 18th and 21st Streets after being temporarily closed following the incident. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is ongoing.
