Joshua Caleb Hunt Obituary, Death; – The individual who was fatally shot in an incident involving law enforcement in Robeson County has been named, and another suspect is currently in custody.

The deceased has been identified as Joshua Caleb Hunt, aged 25, from St. Paul’s.
As reported by the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, SWAT team members, and various law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant at approximately 1 p.m. at a residence located on Ice Cream Drive in St. Pauls.
Upon their arrival, the suspect emerged from a camper armed with a rifle and began firing multiple shots at the investigators. When the officers returned fire, the suspect retreated back into the camper, according to officials.
After more than an hour of attempts to establish contact with the individuals inside the camper, and following several unsuccessful efforts, tear gas was subsequently deployed.
Authorities report that a woman exited the camper, and upon entering, officials discovered Hunt deceased inside. During the operation, officers also found and confiscated a quantity of cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, marijuana, a firearm, and dogs.
Anthony C. Caldwell-Manning has been arrested and faces multiple charges, including maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession of a stolen firearm, and two counts of animal cruelty. Caldwell-Manning is presently detained at the Robeson County Detention Center with a secured bond set at $1 million.
