Joseph Koa Obituary, Death; – The Honolulu medical examiner has confirmed the identity of a man who lost his life in a collision near Ala Moana on Wednesday, November 27.
According to police reports, at approximately 6 p.m., Joseph Koa, aged 34, was operating a moped on Kapiolani Boulevard when he was struck by a vehicle making a left turn from Kapiolani Boulevard onto Mahukona Street.
Authorities indicated that Koa was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident and subsequently succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. As reported by GoFundMe, Koa was a father of five and was en route to the beach to join his family when the accident occurred.
The driver involved, a 31-year-old woman, was unharmed and remained at the scene following the incident. An investigation is currently underway; however, preliminary findings from Honolulu police suggest that speed, drugs, and alcohol were not contributing factors.
