Joseph Donaldson Obituary, Death; – A 47-year-old man lost his life in a rollover accident on Thursday in Makena.
As reported by Maui police, Joseph Donaldson from League City, Texas, was operating a 2024 BMW X5 traveling south on Makena Road, approximately one mile south of Oneloa Beach South Road, when he crossed the center line and veered off to the left side of the road.
Authorities stated that the vehicle struck several rocks on the left shoulder before crossing back over the road and colliding with additional rocks on the right shoulder.
Subsequently, the BMW overturned and came to a stop on its roof in the roadway. During the incident, Donaldson was ejected from the vehicle and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
A 46-year-old woman from Texas was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the accident. She was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition.
Police suspect that speed was a contributing factor in the accident. The investigation is still ongoing.
