John Davenport Obituary, Death; – A 42-year-old man from Albany has been taken into custody and charged with DUII, reckless driving, and first-degree manslaughter in connection with the death of an 80-year-old man following a traffic accident in May.

As reported by the Eugene Police Department, officers responded to the scene on the eastbound Beltline Highway near the River Road exit shortly before 11:30 p.m. on May 12, where a Dodge Ram truck collided with a Cascade Cab Dodge Caravan taxi at a high rate of speed.

The taxi’s passenger, identified as John Davenport, 80, sustained severe injuries in the incident. A nearby doctor provided CPR assistance until Davenport was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. Unfortunately, Davenport succumbed to his injuries on May 26. The taxi driver incurred non-life-threatening injuries from the crash.

Following a thorough investigation by the Eugene Police, the driver of the Dodge Ram, named Fernando Patricio-Hernandez, was arrested and booked into the Lane County Jail on charges including DUII, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, third-degree assault, and first-degree manslaughter.
