James Metcalf Arrested; – A suspect has been apprehended following the discovery of a deceased man outside a library in Orange County.
On June 2, at 6:15 p.m., Westminster police were dispatched to the 8200 block of 13th Street in Westminster in response to reports of an unresponsive individual. The deceased, identified only as a homeless man, was declared dead at the scene. Although no suspect was located in the vicinity, authorities are treating the death as a homicide.
Evidence collected at the scene enabled detectives to identify James Metcalf, 54, from Westminster, as the main suspect, according to the Orange County Register. At the time of his identification, Metcalf was already in police custody on charges of vandalism. The specifics regarding how detectives connected Metcalf to the murder have not been disclosed.
Earlier that day, police reported that Metcalf was arrested in proximity to the location where the body was subsequently discovered, as stated by the O.C. Register. It remains uncertain whether there was any prior acquaintance between the suspect and the victim. Additional information, including the identity of the victim, has not been made public.
