Israel Vega Obituary, Death; – The Rochester police have identified the individual discovered deceased in a Costar Street apartment on Sunday afternoon and have confirmed that his death was a result of foul play.

Israel Vega, aged 65, was found dead inside an apartment located at 73 Costar St. in northwest Rochester, as stated by Capt. Frank Umbrino of the Rochester Police Department. Officers responded to a call regarding Vega’s apartment, situated within a multi-family residence, at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, where they located Vega’s remains.

Umbrino did not reveal the specific cause of death but confirmed on Monday afternoon that it was classified as a homicide. As of now, no charges have been filed in relation to this case. This incident marks the 15th homicide in Rochester for the year 2025, according to the Rochester Police Department’s Open Data Portal.

Costar Street is a residential thoroughfare located off Dewey Avenue in Rochester.
