Isaac Brocco-Rivera Obituary, Death; – An 18-year-old student from Lorain City Schools, who was discovered with a fatal gunshot wound to the head last week, was accidentally shot by a “juvenile family member,” as announced by the police on Friday.

Authorities found Isaac Brocco-Rivera with a fatal gunshot wound to the head at Lakeview Park North on October 18. Lorain police officers arrived at the park, situated at 1700 West Erie Avenue, at 6:44 p.m. after receiving a report of a recent shooting.

Officials report that police discovered a vehicle parked near the western end of the parking lot, where the 18-year-old victim was found unresponsive inside, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Officers provided first aid and summoned EMS personnel to transport Brocco-Rivera to a hospital in Lorain, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.

“Through thorough investigative efforts, detectives have determined that a juvenile family member, who was present with Mr. Brocco-Rivera, was handling a firearm inside the vehicle when it accidentally discharged, fatally striking Mr. Brocco-Rivera while both were seated in the car,” stated the police in a press release on Monday.

Investigators have also recovered a handgun that differs from the one collected by officers at the scene on October 18. The newly recovered handgun, located in a different area from the park, is believed to be the weapon used in the shooting and has been sent for forensic analysis, according to police.

The Criminal Investigations Bureau of the Lorain Police Department initiated a homicide investigation into the shooting last week. On Friday, the police department indicated that the county prosecutor’s office is collaborating with them to ascertain “which, if any, criminal charges are appropriate in this case.”

Detectives are not pursuing any additional persons of interest related to the case, and police have stated that there are no known threats to public safety.

“Chief Failing and the members of the Lorain Police Department extend their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Brocco-Rivera during this tragic time,” the police department expressed.
