Hong Huynh Obituary, Death; – Portland authorities have confirmed the identity of the pedestrian who lost his life in a collision on Wednesday morning in Southeast Portland as 75-year-old Hong Huynh, a resident of the city.
Law enforcement officials arrived at the scene of the incident at approximately 6:45 a.m., located near the intersection of Southeast 109th Avenue and Division Street. Upon their arrival, they discovered Huynh deceased after being struck by a vehicle, as reported by the police. The driver involved, April M. Oneal, 38, from Scappoose, remained at the location and fully cooperated with the investigation. Subsequently, Oneal received a citation for alleged careless driving.
According to police reports, Huynh’s death marks the 67th traffic-related fatality in Portland for the current year, bringing the city closer to last year’s total of 69 fatalities, which represents the highest number recorded in over thirty years.
