Giselle Chavez Obituary, Death; – A 21-year-old woman from Niles lost her life in a three-vehicle collision in Chicago, which authorities report involved a tow truck driver who fled the scene. According to the Chicago police, the incident has been designated as a homicide investigation. The collision took place at 2:14 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, in the 100 block of Roosevelt Road in the South Loop area of Chicago.
It was reported that a tow truck reversed into an SUV, causing the SUV to lose control and collide with another vehicle occupied by the victim, identified as Giselle Chavez, 21, residing on the 7000 block of W. Grennan Place in Niles, as confirmed by the Cook County medical examiner. The vehicle then crashed into a wall.
The accident resulted in three individuals, including Chavez, being ejected from the third vehicle that impacted the wall. All three—Chavez, an unidentified 20-year-old woman, and an unidentified 19-year-old man—were transported to Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, where they were all reported to be in critical condition with head injuries. Chavez ultimately succumbed to her injuries at the hospital and was pronounced dead at 2:52 a.m. on Saturday, as stated by the medical examiner’s office.
Authorities indicated that the tow truck driver fled the scene. The driver of the SUV, which was struck by the tow truck and subsequently caused the collision with Chavez’s vehicle, remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. The major accidents unit of the Chicago police is currently conducting an investigation into the homicide.
