Dexter Leon Monk Obituary, Death; – Investigators have identified a 63-year-old man who tragically lost his life while operating his riding lawnmower last week in west Charlotte.
We reported last Tuesday on the incident that occurred on Freedom Drive, close to Eagles Landing Drive. Authorities discovered the victim in the center of the roadway at approximately 9 p.m.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department this week, the deceased has been identified as Dexter Leon Monk. CMPD states that Monk was driving a riding lawnmower on Freedom Drive when he was struck from behind by a minivan.
Law enforcement indicated that the minivan’s driver was neither speeding nor impaired. CMPD has mentioned that investigators believe Monk may have been impaired at the time of the incident, although toxicology results are still awaited.
No charges have been filed.
