Deron Johnson Obituary, Death; – Meriden police have identified the individual who was fatally shot on Monday as 22-year-old Deron Johnson.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the vicinity of Cook Avenue and Summer Street at approximately 12:05 p.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, they discovered Johnson with at least one gunshot wound, as stated by Meriden police Lt. Darrin McKay in a news release on Tuesday.
Police promptly initiated lifesaving efforts for Johnson prior to the arrival of medical personnel. The Meriden Fire Department transported him to MidState Medical Center, where he was later declared deceased, according to McKay.
McKay confirmed that Johnson’s family has been informed of the situation.
“The Meriden Police Department offers its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Deron Johnson,” McKay remarked.
The Detective Division of the Police Department is currently investigating the incident and pursuing any leads that may be available, as noted by McKay.
At this time, investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety,” McKay added.
