Dennis Diaz Obituary, Death; According to the Lewiston Police Department, at approximately 9:30 p.m., an 80-year-old man, subsequently identified as Dennis Diaz, attempted to cross 21st Street from the east to the west in the 1700 block, located just south of Taco Bell.
The police reported that Diaz was not utilizing a crosswalk when he was struck by a northbound truck. A Lewiston police officer, who was positioned two vehicles behind the truck, witnessed the incident and endeavored to render assistance. Emergency medical personnel arrived shortly thereafter and took over the life-saving measures; however, Diaz succumbed to his injuries.
The Major Collision Investigation Team of the Lewiston Police Department responded to the scene. 21st Street remained closed for approximately three hours while the investigation was conducted.
