Dawn Watson Obituary, Death; – Philadelphia authorities are actively seeking a man implicated in the fatal hit-and-run of a 14-year-old girl in West Philadelphia that occurred in late September. The individual has been identified as 40-year-old Marvin Wicker, who is wanted on charges of homicide by vehicle and other related offenses after fleeing the scene of the incident on the evening of September 26.

Law enforcement officials indicate that Wicker may be operating a silver, two-door Chevrolet Cobalt. He is known to frequent the 5900 block of Haverford Avenue in West Philadelphia. Authorities are advising the public to remain alert and to avoid approaching him.

The tragic incident took place on Haverford Avenue near 66th Street shortly after 9:30 p.m. on September 26. The victim, identified as Dawn Watson, was crossing the street with her mother when she was struck by a speeding vehicle.

“They were returning from the store with groceries in hand and were attempting to cross at the crosswalk when the vehicle hit the young girl,” stated PPD Inspector Michael Gormley in an interview with CBS News Philadelphia following the incident. Fortunately, Watson’s mother was not injured. Gormley noted that there were no witnesses to the event aside from the victim’s mother, who was understandably devastated.

Initially, police had suggested that the driver involved might have been in a dark-colored Mercedes at the time of the incident. Subsequently, they recovered a 2011 Mercedes-Benz E350, which they believe was the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run. Investigators are urging anyone with information regarding Wicker or his location to contact the PPD’s Crash Investigation Division at 215-685-3180/3181.
