DAndre Latrell Sowell Jr Obituary, Death; – Authorities have disclosed the identity of a man who was discovered fatally shot on the porch of a residence in southwest Birmingham.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim on Wednesday as D’Andre Latrell Sowell Jr., a 21-year-old resident of Calera. The incident occurred at 11:45 p.m. on Monday in the 3400 block of Boise Avenue.
Sowell was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:13 a.m. on Tuesday.
Officers from the West Precinct responded to the residence after Shot Spotter detected gunfire in that area.
According to Officer De’Rell Freeman, Sowell was located on the front porch of what seemed to be an abandoned house.
Freeman noted that further details were scarce, and no arrests have been made.
Sowell marks Birmingham’s 86th homicide this year. Across Jefferson County, there have been a total of 126 homicides, including the 86 in Birmingham.
