Corporal Brandon Schreiber,Andrew Roselius Obituary, Death; – A deputy from Indiana who was shot in the line of duty during a hostage call is expected to die from his injuries. On Tuesday afternoon, the Newton County Sheriff’s Office announced Corporal Brandon Schreiber will not survive, despite ongoing efforts from his medical team.

The Newton County deputy was shot on Sept. 1 while assisting the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Office in Illinois on a call involving an armed suspect with a hostage, according to state police.

Deputies pursued the 37-year-old suspect, identified by state police as Andrew Roselius, into Indiana and back to Illinois, which is where the chase ended in a crash. Roselius shot at deputies and hit Schreiber.
