Cecil Batiz Obituary, Death; – The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the armed robbery suspect who was shot and killed by a store manager on Tuesday night as 16-year-old Cecil Batiz. The event took place at approximately 7:50 p.m. at Sam’s Meat Market, located in the 8400 block of South I-10 Service Road.
As reported by the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD), Batiz, along with an accomplice, 18-year-old Teony Juarez, attempted to carry out a robbery of the establishment at gunpoint. In response, the manager discharged his firearm, hitting both individuals. Batiz was taken to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. Juarez managed to escape on foot but was subsequently captured by law enforcement and is now in custody.
